This January, we asked one simple question that somehow opened the door to really big conversations:
What word are you carrying into the new year?
We asked our newsletter subscribers to share their word or intention for the year, and honestly, thank you for that. The messages we received were thoughtful, honest, funny, heavy, hopeful, all of it. It felt really nice to rally around each other in that way.
Some words were bold. Some were quiet. Some felt like deep breaths. Others felt like battle cries. Together, they reminded us that everyone enters a new year carrying something different, and that there’s comfort in naming it.
Around here, we landed on a few themes of our own. Foundation. Impact. A curated, lived-in year. Different words, but the same idea underneath.
Foundation
For us, a foundation means getting back to the basics. Strong routines, better communication, and setting ourselves up properly instead of rushing ahead and fixing things later. The kind of work that isn’t flashy, but makes everything else easier.
It’s choosing systems over scramble, clarity over chaos, and taking the time now so we’re not playing catch-up later.
Impact
Impact is about being more intentional about where our energy goes and how we show up for our community, our families, our work, and each other, not in big, dramatic ways, but in the small, consistent ones that actually make a difference.
The quiet follow-through. The thoughtful choices. The everyday actions that add up over time.
A Curated, Lived-In Year
And a curated, lived-in year is our reminder to stop saving things for “someday.” Using what we already have, finishing what we start, celebrating the moments as they happen, and letting the things we love actually be part of our everyday lives.
Less waiting. More living. Less “this is too special.” More “This is exactly what it’s for.”
February feels like the right place to lean into all of that.
