You Love a Good Checklist. So Do We.

We're looking for a full-time Warehouse Manager to join our sweet team and take ownership of the day-to-day flow of The Sugar Cube warehouse.

This is a hands-on role. And when we say hands-on, we mean it.

You'll work directly alongside our production team building and fulfilling orders, while also keeping an eye on the bigger picture: what needs to be made, what's going out, what just arrived, what we're running low on, what needs to happen next and who needs to be doing what to keep everything moving.

We're looking for someone who genuinely loves organization, notices the little details, thinks ahead and doesn't wait for someone else to point out that something needs attention. You can follow an established process, but you're also the person who notices when there might be a smarter or more efficient way to do something.

There's a creative side to the job, too. Candy production isn't just about filling containers. You'll help create thoughtful candy mixes, work with colours and themes and make sure our products look every bit as good as they taste.

If an organized shelf, a completed checklist and a beautifully efficient production day bring you an unreasonable amount of satisfaction, we should probably talk.

Responsibilities:

This is a hands-on management role. You'll be working in production alongside the team while also taking responsibility for keeping the warehouse organized, efficient and moving in the right direction.

Warehouse Management & Production

  • Oversee daily production and fulfillment, ensuring orders are completed accurately, efficiently and on time.
  • Work hands-on alongside the production team while tracking the overall workflow, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Delegate daily tasks and priorities to the Warehouse Production Support team and ensure established processes are being followed.
  • Track production times and average order fulfillment times, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and workflow.
  • Develop, document and refine warehouse procedures when a process could be made clearer, faster or more effective.
  • Receive, organize and rotate inventory using a FIFO system, while monitoring stock levels and investigating discrepancies.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of allergen procedures, custom-order requirements, and production standards, and guide the team as needed.
  • Complete quality-control checks to ensure finished products meet order specifications and Sugar Cube standards.
  • Proactively communicate production progress, inventory concerns, delays, errors and other key issues to management.
  • Ensure the warehouse, equipment and shared workspaces are kept organized, sanitized and ready for production.
  • Support training and provide day-to-day guidance to the Warehouse Production Support team.
  • Use and maintain warehouse and production equipment safely and correctly.

Creative Production & Product Quality

Candy is a pretty visual business, and creativity is an important part of this role.

  • Create and assemble thoughtful candy mixes based on colour palettes, themes, flavours, product requirements and customer requests.
  • Use creativity and good visual judgment when selecting candies, balancing colours and developing custom or seasonal mixes.
  • Follow established product recipes and specifications while understanding when a project requires a little creative problem-solving.
  • Help bring custom, corporate, seasonal and themed orders to life.
  • Ensure finished products meet The Sugar Cube's standards for presentation, accuracy, and quality.
  • Pay attention to the little visual details that take a product from "a bunch of candy" to something that feels intentionally put together.

Customer Pickups & Warehouse Sales

While we aren't a traditional storefront, customers visit our warehouse every day to pick up their orders, and occasionally someone pops in hoping to grab something sweet while they're here.

Our Warehouse Manager will (with the help of available team members):

  • Greet and assist customers arriving for warehouse pickups.
  • Make sure pickup orders are accurate, complete and ready to go.
  • Provide a friendly and helpful customer experience.
  • Assist occasional walk-in customers in purchasing from available ready-made products and process in-person purchases accurately using our POS system.

Technology & Equipment

We're a small business, but we're also very digital.

Our Warehouse Manager should be comfortable using technology in their everyday work. Experience with programs such as Shopify, Dynamics, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint and Canva is an asset, but you don't need to walk in knowing every system we use.

You'll also work with a variety of equipment and tools, including printers, Cricut machines, heat-sealing equipment, cotton candy machines and other production equipment.

Training is provided. We're much more interested in finding someone comfortable learning new technology and equipment, who can follow instructions confidently and isn't afraid to troubleshoot when something isn't working as it should.

Qualifications

  • Has Relevant Experience: You have 2-4 years of previous experience in warehouse, education, operations, production, or a related field.
  • Is a Hands-On Leader: You're comfortable working alongside the team while also giving direction, delegating tasks and keeping everyone aware of priorities.
  • Takes Ownership: You notice what needs to be done and take initiative instead of waiting to be given every next step.
  • Is Extremely Organized: You can manage multiple priorities, maintain systems and keep track of the little details even when the warehouse gets busy.
  • Works Efficiently: You understand that quality and speed both matter. You're comfortable maintaining a strong production pace while ensuring things are done correctly.
  • Has a Creative Eye: You understand that candy doesn't just need to taste good; it needs to look good too. You enjoy working with colour, themes and visual combinations and can create thoughtful mixes that feel intentional rather than random.
  • Is a Problem Solver: When something doesn't go according to plan, your instinct is to assess the situation, find a solution and communicate what needs to happen next.
  • Communicates Clearly: You can give instructions, ask questions, flag concerns and keep the rest of the team informed without needing constant follow-up.
  • Is Detail-Oriented: You're comfortable working with custom orders, quantities, inventory, allergen requirements and production instructions where small details matter.
  • Is Comfortable With Technology: You're confident learning software, equipment and digital processes and aren't intimidated by troubleshooting.
  • Is Adaptable: Priorities can change quickly in a small business. You're able to adjust, reorganize and keep things moving without losing track of the bigger picture.
  • Is Physically Comfortable in a Warehouse Environment: You're comfortable being on your feet for extended periods, performing repetitive production tasks, and lifting and moving inventory. Ability to enforce strict safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all employees, in accordance with relevant regulations and industry health standards.
  • Is Team-Oriented: You understand that in a small company, sometimes the answer to "Whose job is that?" is "ours."

Enjoy These Sweet Perks as a Team Member

  • Competitive Compensation: $20 - $25 per hour based on skills and experience.
  • Full-Time Hours: An average of 35+ hours per week.
  • Benefits: Available to full-time employees.
  • Lots to Learn: This role touches many different parts of a growing small business, with plenty of opportunities to learn new systems, equipment and skills.
  • A Small, Collaborative Team: You'll work closely with people across the business rather than being tucked away in one department.
  • Sweet Extras: Yes, there are candy perks. Lots of them.
